Maternal and Child Health Course

Technology on Microbes Drug Resistance and Its Control

ACIH has been conducting seminars related to health programmes with main emphasis on research, prevention and control of communicable diseases based on the scheme of the JICA training course, under the bilateral arrangement between governments. 

The main aim is to transfer specialized knowledge and technologies required by specific countries.  Those who have received training are now contributing variously to various health programmes, and system managements and nation-building.  As of the end of fiscal year of 2006, 1299 medical workers from 100 countries participated in JICA training courses conducted by ACIH. 

The group training courses for health and medical workers are as below: (JICA TRAINING COURSE SCHEDULE)

Seminar on How to Reduce Child Deaths and International Cooperation
- in focus on Millennium Development Goals, No. 4, 5 and 6 -

It is designed for participants to review the policies and execution of work related to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH). The course is to help participants develop their managerial and planning skills with the aim of improving the MCH indices in their own country. Also, through the seminar, the participants would understand the international MCH programmes, such as Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and evaluate current progress, analyze the factors and consider the future plan of MCH programme in own country. 

Seminar on Epidemiology and Control Measures of Vaccine Preventable Diseases
- Based on Global Immunization Vision and Strategy (GIVS), Targeting for Control of Polio, Measles, Hepatitis B and Introduction of New Vaccines -

The seminar is designed to provide participants with the skills on how to analyze factors and construct control measures for vaccine preventable diseases, especially polio and measles. The seminar is also to contribute to the newly developed strategies of Global Immunization Vision and Strategy (GIVS).

Prevention and Control Measures of AIDS

It is designed to provide participants with the skills on how to construct measures for prevention from the infectious diseases, how to innovate the method of treatment. The participants will understand global measures against HIV/AIDS by acquiring knowledge and techniques regarding public health and prevention, epidemiology, screening/diagnosis and treatment of HIV/AIDS.  After their return to home countries, the participants will dedicate themselves to the development of effective measures against AIDS and ATL.

Control of Viral Hepatitis - Epidemiology, Prevention and Treatment

It is designed for participants from governmental organization or hospital in charge of prevention and treatment of infectious hepatitis to provide knowledge and techniques regarding preventive measures and public health.  After the seminar, the participants will strengthen their ability to develop effective measures against hepatitis, especially, how to execute preventive measures, and how to promote health education in each endemic country.

Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health

It is designed to provide participants with knowledge and practical control measures of the health hazards caused by agricultural chemicals and mechanization, and also environmental health risks.

Development of laboratory diagnosis of drug resistant microbes

The course is designed to provide participants with knowledge and techniques required for the tests of drug resistance microbes, and construct measures to prevent the emergence of drug resistance microbes.

Improvement of Blood Screening for Central American Countries

The course is designed to provide participants with knowledge and techniques to improve blood screening aiming to establish and/or improve the blood screening system in each country.

CLINICAL TECHNOLOGY IMPROVEMENT FOR PALESTINE

The course is designed to upgrade human resources who attends to clinical work, such as medical doctors and co-medical workers for Palestine Autonomy.
